Located in the heart of the research center on the Palaiseau campus of École polytechnique, LIX ("Laboratoire d'Informatique de l'X", UMR X-CNRS) has more than 120 members of which half are PhD students and about fifty are permanent researchers, distributed between CNRS, INRIA, and the École polytechnique.

The activities of LIX are organized into three main areas: algorithmic, networks, and formal methods.
